Picked up my poor, sick Camaro today. The fuckers cracked the windshield. Bad enough it needs replaced. They claim they wont ever it because it was in the lot, not inside the shop. I want to hear that line after I file a police report. My insurance is going to eat them alive.

For future reference, you can say Fuck Stealerships. The Electronic Frontier Foundation had nothing to do with this.
If I had the money I'd buy a Tesla just to flip off the dealership system!

Why would lot vs shop matter? It's still dealership property. Did you sign anything absolving them of any damages to your vehicle while on their property?

Can I recommend the first half of your comment and dismiss the letter but not the spirit of the second part. ;)

Also call the regional Chevy representative. He might take a dim view of this. Also, if your local TV station has a 'consumer advocate working for you' kind of reporter, call them. Once the dealership hears about that...they might change their tune.

Well if it was hot out, and they ran it through the wash, and your windshield had a star crack in it all ready, your windshield was bound to crack. What work was done to the car and how bad is the crack? Was it a tool strike from the interior or just the usual road debris cracking the windshield. Is there any damage to the surround?
IMO your insurance is just going to charge YOU your window deductible and call it a day. Also for you to be able to pin it on the dealer you need to have a very recent photo of your windshield i.e. right before you took it in for service, to even be able to claim they did the damage. Most likely you had just a tiny little star crack from a pebble on the highway and when it got washed the temperature differential cracked the windshield all the way. It happens all the time, and is also why it is best to not wash your car after it has been sitting in the sun all day.
